The neighborhood that’s the birthplace of St. Paul. Thanks to its front-row seat along the Mississippi River this is where history lives. Rooted in the 1800s as the landing for steamboats, warehouses and railways. After its fast and furious heyday, it fell quiet for a time, until artists and visionaries transformed buildings into studios, lofts and small businesses. A vibrant arts scene and tight-knit community centered around Mears Park (home of Lowertown Sounds), CHS Field (MUDonna lives here)? and the St. Paul Farmers’ Market (wait, everything sold is grown in Minnesota)? Live music, great food, and breweries are never more than a few steps away, all anchored by Union Depot.

It’s a place where historic charm and modern city life overlap with a subtle, steady energy. Here, people chase the American dream on cobblestone streets and between preserved brick buildings. just like those who passed through St. Paul’s “front door” all those years ago.
